Following Jesus in nonviolent struggle for justice and peace, we love our neighbors and enemies
as God loves us all, becoming a peace church to share in Gods work to save the world.
Moravian Church Peace Roots
It is the belief of ECAPC that every Christian church has roots in peace and justice in either a small way or a dramatic way as followers of Jesus, the Prince of Peace. If this is your denomination, use this information to open a discussion in your church regarding peace and justice issues of the day and the responsibilities of your fellow members to be disciples of Jesus. Please contact us with additional history or resources you may have for your denomination and we will post it here.
Early History
"In a larger frame of reference, the formative theologian of the early Moravian church was Peter Chelcicky, who may legitimately be called the founder of pacifism. Tolstoy read Chelcicky. Gandhi read Tolstoy. MLK read Gandhi. Also, Comenius was the first political theorist to argue that war is always a failure of government. So, the Moravian contributions to the peace witness are real and lasting."
