HOW TO GET INVOLVED

Register as an individual -- click the "register" button on the right of this page.

1. PARTNER -- Seek and find one person to walk the ECAPC journey with you. Every Church A Peace Church is about costly discipleship. It is not easy to walk this way alone, and from all we can see Jesus did not intend that we should. For help with this step, click this "partner" link http://www.ecapc.org/partner.asp.

William Blake saw;

“A world in a grain of sand,

A Heaven in a wild flower,

Held infinity in the palm of his hand

Eternity in an hour”

Pat Robertson saw an apocalypse in a disaster.  Pat Robertson’s misguided musings reflect a deeper theological and cultural problem. Truth in education, both secular and Christian, is at the heart of these misapprehensions and incredulously stupid statements. Evil comes in all religious guises. The real evil was the enslavement of the Africans that populated Haiti in bondage and it was not the devil but God, the God of the oppressed that delivered them. If an oppressor’s religion justifies the demonic dehumanization of a people, it is certainly understandable if they return to their “roots” in search of an alternative and available spiritual power.

The Unifying Visions program of ECAPC seeks to unite the historic Black justice movement and the historic peace church movement in this country.  Martin Luther King's decision to speak out against war as well as racial injustice was an historic step in this direction.

     King's anti-war message is not much lauded in national celebrations of the King holiday.  Have you ever wondered why that is?

      Dr. Gary Kohls, energetic supporter of ECAPC in Duluth, MN, reminded us of this today in an email.  He quotes Dr. King:

Luke 2:14

The greatest weapon in evil’s arsenal against the advance of the good, the holy and the true is to make us believe that the achievement of the same is impossible. People feel stupid for believing and embarrassed to try what is deemed impossible by others. The desire for world peace, a noble and needed ideal, is often associated with the stereotypical air-headed answer given in beauty pageants, suggesting that it is not only impossible, but silly, ridiculous or stupid as well.

On December 23 I wrote a meditation here titled "Fear Not."  The recent political and media frenzy over the attempt to sabotage a plane reminds us why Jesus repeatedly warned us not to be driven by fear.
