    This is a novel set in Mexico and the USA during the Cold War. (Remember that? McCarthyism and all?)

        This book is worth it for the amazing similies Kingsolver invents, but even more for the wisdom it brings to the mindless patriotism that defined America during the Cold War and probably even more (not less) today.
