Following Jesus in nonviolent struggle for justice and peace, we love our neighbors and enemies as God loves us all, becoming a peace church to share in Gods work to save the world.

Description (from our web site):

We are an experiment in doing Church differently.

We believe that the spirit is calling us into new ways of coming together and being Church. While we take historic Methodism as our starting point, we are deeply fed by Celtic Christianity, and we embrace Creation Spirituality as a new language for expressing the Celtic wisdom.

We are exiles from status quo Churchianity.

As faithful followers of the Living Christ, we seek to make a new and welcoming oasis for other exiles.

We are welcoming and radically inclusive.

Every person is welcome to join us, regardless of the labels society uses to divide us (age, ethnicity, physical ability, gender, social class, sexuality, marital status, financial condition, and so on). We seek to stand with the Christ and embrace, as Quaker founder George Fox so beautifully said, "that of God in everyone".

We welcome you in the Christ, whoever you are!

History of Anam Cara Conference:

Anam Cara Conference began in February 2005 as a covenant of ministries seeking more engaged ways to be Church. We had each left our denominations of origin, and discovered in each other the same visions of "what if?" What if we created a new experiment in being and doing Church, that left behind the bureaucracy, careerism, and timidity of mainline churches? At our founding we've "baked in" our core commitments to peace, diversity, new metaphors to express our faith, and a willingness to engage the whole of Christian tradition to preserve the treasures, and let go the rest.

Action Plans:

Our initial action plans are to develop engagement in three interrelated areas: developing our peace witness as individuals and as a Conference; developiing our support for Conscientious Objectors; and developing our understanding of the War Tax issue in order to develop action items for this area of concern. Our overall plans include finding the best integration points with ongoing peace efforts in the Bay Area and northern California.
