Identity Statement
We understand ourselves to be God's children and members of God's family in an Anabaptist / Mennonite perspective. (1 Peter 2:9-12)
We identify ourselves with Jesus Christ and seek to understand and interpret scripture in harmony with his life and teachings. (Matthew 11: 28-30)
We are a participating congregation in Mennonite Church USA.
We are a small urban congregation located in Dallas, TX, but desire to become larger.
We are mostly educated, middle class, white people from European background; however, we desire to work toward becoming multi-cultural and toward claiming an anti-racist identity. (Isaiah 2: 3-4 & 25:6-8; Ephesians 2:14-22; Revelation 5:9-10)
Our community of faith is evenly gathered from ethnic and non-ethnic Mennonite families.
Our theological ethics makes PMC a unique community of faith within the metroplex.
We are God's sheep and Jesus is our Shepherd in whom we find unity in the midst of our profound diversity. (John 10:1-18 & Galatians 3:26-28)
Core Values
We believe we are called and commissioned by Jesus to share his Good News and pray that the Holy Spirit will empower us to point others toward the reign of God. (Matthew 28:16-20)
The roots of the Anabaptist tradition and its theology nourish our individual discipleship, as well as, our life together as Christ's body. (1Cor. 3:11)
We embrace being a community of the Spirit in which God gifts people for ministry, worship, discernment and decision-making by consensus. (1 Cor. 12:12-20; Eph. 4:7-13)
We see in Jesus' nonviolent lifestyle our model for living the Christian life and will use peaceful and just methods to resolve conflict. (Matthew 18:15-20)
We accept the Scriptures as the Word of God and as the fully reliable and trustworthy standard for Christian faith and life.
We value service to others, a simple life style, and mutual aid. (Matthew 5:1 to 7:29)
