| The decision to join ECAPC culminated a year of educatioin and discernment. The Peace Cabinet of the congregation initiated the process. Al Lind is chair of the cabinet. Cabinet members learned of ECAPC from a Mennonite peace activist in Oregon, and from the website, where the cabinet gathered information used in education. Public meetings were sponsored, featuring out-of-town peace speakers in cooperation with other Mennonite Churches and peace activists in the community. This form of peace activism continues.
The Cabinet took a recommendation to the Elders of the congregation, who processed the idea and then made the decision to join ECAPC.
Rev. Jack Knox, pastor of the church, supported the process. Jack joined the Mennonite church in mid-life, from a Presbyterian background. |
